Germano SIGOLO is a Craft Goldsmith. He was born in Milan in 1957 and started his workshop activity in his very youth. Not older than a boy he learned the art of embossment and engraving, then improved his skills with wax modeling used for artistic casting, to move further with punch engraving and creation of models and prototypes under the guide of Vittorio De Poi, a Master Goldsmith in Milan. In addition to his workshop activity as it is in old Italian tradition, he attended the evening courses at the art school of Castello Sforzesco in Milan. It took him long time to rise from the ranks and that work, that was at first demanding time and labor, later became a passion. After he graduated in Art as painter in 1977, in 1979 he opened his own goldsmith workshop in Cormano (Milan), where he still lives and works. His artistic skills include drawing, designing of jewel and silverware restoration. He creates unique pieces or limited series: he designs and assemble personal jewels and silver ornaments, tools and devices, by embossing them, chiseling, engraving and piercing. He loves to work in open areas where people can walk about to see him chiseling. Today, together with his wife, an architect and designer, he makes studies and experiments on new tools, design and forms that, thanks to his craft expertise, he brings to real world using his manual skills combined with his creative sensibility. In 2000 he received the “Milano Produttiva” award from the Chamber of Commerce of Milan.
